The “Poetry of the Earth” series is a culmination of calming natural soundscapes recorded by environmental sound artist Takashi Kokubo during his travels to over forty countries. All recordings were done using the 3-D binaural system “Cyberphonic,” delivering a startlingly realistic sense of presence when listened to with headphones—so vivid that one feels physically transported into the scene.

Across the endless horizon, the steady breath of wild animals becomes a direct encounter with Earth’s primal vitality. Tens of thousands of flamingos fill the air with sound and scent; nocturnal hyenas call from afar; the Maasai dance; wild doves shuffle with an unmistakable African groove. This is a work in which one realizes that the planet itself is full of music.

Track 10, “Newspaper,” serves as a Cyberphonic demonstration track.
