Environmental musician and sound designer Takashi Kokubo appeared on the interview program “Legend Channel.”
The recording took place at SAGE Studio, Kokubo’s private studio that he has developed over many years as a base for creative work and research. SAGE Studio was designed to explore the relationship between nature, sound, space, and human consciousness, serving as a place for reflection and experimentation centered on creating an environment for deep immersion in sound.
During the interview, the conversation unfolded around “Cyber-kun,” a special microphone modeled on the shape of the human head and used in Kokubo’s original 3D recording system, Cyberphonic, which he developed himself. He discussed his approach to capturing sound not as something flat but as a three-dimensional experience, the philosophy behind it, and the trajectory of his creative career.
The interview also touched on the emergency earthquake alert buzzer sound for mobile phones that Kokubo designed, explaining the production process and the sonic design philosophy behind creating a sound that instantly captures human attention.
